======Frequently Asked Questions====== === I want to attend your university. How do I apply? === **A.** Please check the [[admissions:graduate:home]] page. You should find answers to your questions by following the links from this page. Graduate Studies has an [[http://www.applyweb.com/apply/cwrug/menu.html|on-line application process]]. === What is the deadline for filing an application? === **A.** Although there are no hard deadlines for domestic applicants, international application materials should be received in our office (not postmarked) by: February 1 for Fall semester admission October 1 for Spring semester admission === Can I check the status of my application on-line? === **A.** Unfortunately not at this time. The system that is in place does not allow for this at this time. Updates and improvements will allow for this in the future. At this time the MAE department is not acknowledging on-line applications until the supplemental material arrives. When you receive an acknowledgement that we have received your application that means we have the complete application. === What is the minimum TOEFL score needed? === **A.** The University requires a score of 550 for the written test, 213 for the electronic test, or 80 for the internet based test. === What is the minimum GRE score needed? === **A.** There is no set minimum score required by our department. The requirement is that all incoming students must take this test. However, guidelines for scoring are as follows: Verbal 520+, Quantitative 740+, and Analytical 3.5+. === What is the minimum GPA score needed? === **A.** Each program has a slightly different minimum, but in general it is around 3.2. === My country does not use your standard for GPA, how can I convert it to receive fair consideration by the faculty? === **A.** If your country uses a percentage system please convert that score for the GPA. To convert your percentage score to a GPA using this formula: 4 x / 85 = GPA It is still better to put in the percentage than leave the GPA blank. === Can I send a copy of my GRE or TOEFL scores now and still be considered for admission? === **A.** Yes. The faculty can review your application with the score copies. If you are accepted Graduate Studies will require you to submit an original of the scores. === Can I send my financial statement after I am admitted? === **A.** Yes. However, your I-20 will not be processed until the financial statement is received by International Student Services. If there is a problem with the information this will just further delay you papers. It is better to send them early. === Is there an official financial statement form that can be downloaded? === **A.** No. There is no official form. All you need is a bank statement stating the amount of support, who the support is from, and a verification from the bank that the money is there. This is a standard support statement. === I am confused about the letter of recommendation? Does this have to be submitted on-line or can it still be sent to you via regular mail? === **A.** You can submit the letters either way. Some feel it is more convenient to have the letters sent electronically. That is why we have it set up that way. We are trying to make the process as easy as possible. === I would like to get a TA position, how do I go about getting that? === **A.** Sorry, but all the TA positions are filled by our Ph.D. students. All of our Ph.D. students are required to teach three classes to receive their degree. === Can you send me information about your programs and requirements? === **A.** This is one of the main purposes of our website. We, the faculty and staff, have taken great efforts to put all the need information on-line to make it convenient for you to find everything you need. Please see [[academics:home]]. === I sent my information to Graduate Studies instead of the listed address, will this speed the application process up?=== **A.** No. It will actually slow things down. They will have to find the material and then send it to our department via campus mail which may take another week to reach us.
